The Custodian assists the Pastor by managing the properties of the Catholic Family of Parishes in Norfolk so that the Pastor and other members of the Pastoral Team can focus on pastoral matters. The Custodian works collaboratively with the Coordinator of Property and Maintenance, the Pastor, Administration Manager, Pastoral Team, staff, laity, committees and Diocesan staff.

Responsibilities:
The Custodial and Maintenance personnel for the Catholic Family of Parishes in Norfolk for St. Mary’s Parish – 211 Union Street, Simcoe

Oversees the Property function including

• Responsible for cleaning of all buildings including church, offices, Parish Centre.
• Responsible for contacting maintenance contractors and various companies for service and repairs.
• Responsible for general maintenance and minor repairs of all buildings including painting, minor repairs of plumbing, electrical and carpentry.
• Responsible for setup and take down for events and meetings taking place in the Parish Centre.
• Responsible for purchasing all needed cleaning and maintenance supplies.
• Responsible for ground maintenance year round including spring and fall clean up, lawn cutting, flower garden and to coordinate snow removal and salting all entrances and sidewalks.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Experience in handling ground care equipment including lawn mower and snow blower.
• Experience in general maintenance and cleaning with knowledge of plumbing, heating and electrical.
• Experience in general carpentry.
• Willing to work flexible hours including occasional weekends, as needed.
• Health and physical condition consistent with manual labor.
• Vehicle required

• Organized, good communication, problem solver and willing to take initiative for work projects.
• Attention to detail, resourceful, mechanically inclined
• Experience of working with volunteers is an asset
• Competence in using Microsoft Office applications
• The personal qualities of the individual and their commitment to serve the Catholic Family of Parishes in Norfolk are crucial. The individual must understand and be supportive of the mission of the Catholic Church
